GUESS whom we bumped into at the first birthday party of Augusto, the second child of Arlene Muhlach and husband Warren Dandoy (their eldest, Aliyah, is six years old) at the Jollibee in Muntinlupa (store manager, Neriza Gregorio) last Sunday?
Answer: Bianca Lapuz.
Bianca came with her second son, Exequiel, who is nearly two years old.
Her elder son is eight-year-old Icey (father: comedian Vhong Navarro).
Bianca, it turned out, was commissioned by Arlene to organize the party.
"Nasorpresa nga siya when she (Arlene) learned that I owned the events company na tinawagan niya for this party. Nakita niya ang aking website," related Bianca.
Bianca co-owns the company Party Island with April Santayana.
How did she get into the business?
"Mahilig talaga akong mag-organize ng events, especially for children," she answered, "Kaya I took up formal studies in organizing childrens parties.
"I attend seminars. Yes, to keep myself abreast with whatever is new in the business. When I learned that kids are crazy about artificial tattoos, nag-aral akong mag-tattoo in China, no less."
She is hands-on when it comes to running her business. When she is organizing a party, the first thing she asks from the parents is if they have a theme.
Then, days before the party, she inquires about the parents expectations, including the minutest details they want arranged.
If allowed to take charge of everything, she takes care of the balloons (What childrens party doesnt have balloons? she asks) and the gifts that go into the loot bags for the young visitors.
And how much does she charge per event?
"It depends," Bianca replied. "Tulad nitong kay Arlene, presyong kaibigan lang ang ibinigay ko."
That particular Sunday, according to Bianca, she organized three childrens birthday parties.
"Nakakapagod," she revealed, "pero masaya."
Before parting, we kidded Bianca about Vhong. Does she regret that their relationship didnt last long?
"Basta ang alam ko, nang minamahal ko siya at pinakasalan, di pa siya si Vhong Navarro ngayon," she answered.
Their marriage was annulled two years ago.
Vhong is now romantically linked to Desiree del Valle.
The event is mounted yearly by the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) in order to promote awareness about the roll on, roll off (RORO) routes to promote the countrys logistics and infrastructure network under the Sustainable Logistics Development Program (SLDP).
This years event covered six days of challenges and non-stop travel on land and sea from November 7 to 12.
