More than 125 artists ang magpa-participate sa art exhibit na ito which includes national artists like Bencab, Jerry Navarro, Malang, Manuel Baldemor, Gus Albor, Ramon Orlina, Elmer Borlongan, Mark Justiniani, Geraldine Javier at marami pang iba.

Isang proyekto ni Julius with the help of Gawad Kalinga.

"Dito sa Gawad Kalinga, everyone is sincere and true. There's no room for empty promises and politicking are not allowed," aniya nang makausap ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal).

"Everyone of us must take responsibility for improving the quality of life. I have witnessed the transformation of GK communities. It's not just the physical home that undergoes changes; even the behavior, habits, and outlook of the community improve.

"A squatter's area where people drink on the streets, hold riots at night, and throw garbage anywhere is transformed into a proud and dignified community."

Every year, kapag birthday nila, they see to it na meron silang dino-donate na bahay sa Gawad Kalinga.

"This year I am planning to donate an entire village, about 30 houses through the help of my artist friends and art lovers. With the help of God and people willing to share their time and effort in helping us build a community, makakaya namin ito.

"I think most artists want to make a difference in our society, masters or upcoming artists. Many of them can relate to the problem of poverty because a lot of artists are also still struggling to make a name for themselves in the art scene.

"Now, the gates for greater opportunities have opened since many Pinoy artists have been making it big in the international auction scene. When I presented my idea to them, most of them immediately agreed to join the bandwagon."

"Originally, 40 artists with 40 of their works will be on display. Yun ang theme since I am turning 40 years old. Pero biglang dumami na sila. Naging 125 artists na ang mag-participate. This means more houses for Gawad Kalinga," natutuwang kuwento pa ni Julius.

"I think the friendship that I have developed with these artists and gallery owners over the years of my art collecting has helped bring all the elements together. And I also did not have a hard time convincing sponsors to support our project. I guess it also helps if people trust and respect you."

"Tulad nga ng sinabi ng aking high school art teacher, 'Art is life and life is art.' Our life can be compared to a plain canvas. You choose what colors to put on that canvas, bright or dark. You decide whether to use a brush or a palette or to use oil or acrylic paint.

"You may choose to make a masterpiece or a disaster. In other words, just like painters, we are in control of our lives, our canvas; we have the power to make it better or worse.

"And with a project like Art 40, we hope to change the lives of our poor brothers and sisters."
