Synopsis:

For 13-year old Tilden, growing up with her 12-year old sister Elizabeth and her out-of-sync mom Frances (Elizabeth Perkins, Flintstones, The Miracle On 34th Street, Big) in a small Atlanta suburb is definitely hard to do. While she longs for her period's debut, other problems start surfacing.

Seems her mother has found a new man in her life - New York nice guy Nick (Scott Bakula, Quantum Leap, The Lord Of Illusions). Quicker than the girls can say no, she decides to move to his home in Long Island, and take them along for the ride. If losing her mother to Nick isn't a crushing enough defeat, Nick proposes marriage. And Tilden's period is still no show.

But before Frances gets to walk down the aisle, she'll have to go for a lumpectomy - she's got breast cancer. To make things worse, Elizabeth beats Tilden to it and gets her period first.
