Synopsis:

Captain Ramius (Connery, The Entrapment, Finding Forester) is trying to defect from Russia, only he's doing it in style, on board the most lethal underwater fighting machine ever built - the elusive and very-nuclear submarine The Red October. And it's heading for America's eastern seaboard.

The mission is to hunt down the sub before the unthinkable happens. Tagging along for the cat and mouse game is CIA analyst Jack Ryan (Baldwin, The Shadow), who spends his day profiling the biographies of Soviet navy personnel - and nobody knows Ramius better.

The clock is ticking, a Soviet sub with a lethal package of nuclear content awaits to be delivered to American soil, and two nations are at the brink of war.
