The Browning VersionSynopsis: Before Dead Poets Society and Mr. Holland's Opus, there was this memorable tale of a student who inspires his brilliant but beleaguered and unappreciated teacher. This second film version of the play by Terence Rattigan (the first was directed by Anthony Asquith in 1951) features Albert Finney (Delivering Milo) in a widely acclaimed performance as Andrew Crocker-Harris, a public school Latin teacher facing a forced, early retirement. It doesn't help that the rest of his life is in a mess either - his young, beautiful wife (Scacchi, Cotton Mary) fancies the brash but popular American chemistry teacher (Matthew Modine, The Shipment). Crocker-Harris comes to the tragic realization that he is alone... at school, and at home. It takes one student's act of kindness to give him the courage to start his life anew. Directed by Mike Figgis, of the Oscar-winning Leaving Las Vegas fame. Casts: Albert Finney, Greta Scacchi Duration : 93 minutes
