The Bridge on the River Kwai - Restored Version

Synopsis:

David Lean's critically acclaimed classic drama set against the backdrop of World War Two remains a blockbuster years after it was made - and now even more so - thanks to this much anticipated digitally restored version. Colonel Nicholson (Guinness) is a spit-and-polish British officer ordered by his Japanese captors to build a railway bridge in the harsh jungle of Burma. Unbeknownst to him, a demolition team led by Major Shears (Holden) and Major Warden (Hawkins) is planning to put the bridge out of operation. A psychological battle of wills begins with Nicholson determined to maintain British morale to finish the vital railway link, and others determined to see the venture go up in smoke. The Bridge on the River Kwai won seven Oscars including Best Picture, Director, Cinematography, and Best Actor for Alec Guinness back in 1958. This is an extraordinary film with a truly explosive climax.
