| | StripesSynopsis: This 1981 comedy was part of Bill Murrey's (Saturday Night Live, Ghostbusters) continuing collaboration with director Ivan Reitman, just before the duo worked on Ghostbusters. What the movie captures is Murrey in his comedic climb to success. And the script allows him to flex his talent as slick comic goofball, John Wagner, a chronic loser, who decides that the only way to turn his life around is to join the army. He coaxes his best friend Russell (Ramis, I'm with Lucy, As Good as It Gets) along for the ride. Once in boot camp, John tangles with his by-the-books Sergeant (Oates, Blue Thunder, Tough Enough) and becomes the de facto leader of his platoon, made up of misfits and assorted losers.
