| Shrek (2001)Synopsis: Winner for Best Animated Feature at the ACADEMY AWARDS® © A.M.P.A.S.® He's no Swamp Thing, and no, he's not the Incredible Hulk either. He's Shrek (Mike Meyers, Wayne's World, Austin Powers, International Man of Mystery), just about the ugliest hero that ever lived, and this is the fairytale without the sugar or the fairytale ending. Shrek the movie walked away with an Oscar for Best Animated Feature - a first for an animated movie - and was nominated for Best Screenplay in 2002. Evil Lord Farquaad (Lithgow, Cliff Hanger) - always a sinister plan taller than his foot-long self - has banished all the fairytale characters out of their kingdom. To stop the storybook-load of fictional characters from invading his once quiet home, Shrek cuts a deal with Lord Farquaad to rescue to beautiful princess Fiona (Diaz, Gangs of New York, The Mask) to be his bride. Making the lone mission a team effort is a big-teethed, big-mouthed donkey (Eddie Murphy, The Nutty Professor, Bowfinger), who's best at getting on Shrek's nerves. Before they all live rather happily ever after, Shrek proves that ogres can rise above their icky green and go true blue. |
