Riding in Cars With Boys

Synopsis:

Director Penny Marshall (Stateside, Special Delivery) weaves a seriocomic story based on the memoirs of Beverly Donofrio, about a girl's coming of age and her life that ensues afterwards. In the lead role as Beverly, Drew Barrymore (Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, Confessions of A Dangerous Mind) delivers a sensitive and powerful performance of a teenager who is both her own mentor and enemy.

Her dreams of becoming a writer gets sidelined when at 16, she gets pregnant with a thick headed schoolmate named Ray, played by Steve Zahn (Stuart Little 2, National Security). The pressures of family life, and her husband's eventual addiction to heroin, become challenges to the completion of her ambitions.

This film is inspiring to those who question what they can accomplish, and provides a moral backdrop that states that it is sometimes not the goal but the journey towards it that matters.
