Once Upon a Time in Mexico

Synopsis:

Energetic, no-holds barred director Robert Rodriguez pays homage to the Sergio Leone spaghetti westerns --- but he ups the ante with flair, using fancy camera shots and exciting stunt work. Rodriguez assembles his favorite cast to bring to the screen another brilliantly executed and action-packed film featuring signature hero El Mariachi.

El Mariachi (Banderas, Imagining Argentina, And Starring Pancho Villa As Himself), is out for revenge yet again. This time he wants to assassinate General Marquez, the man who killed his beloved wife, Carolina (Hayek, After The Sunset, Frida), and their daughter.

CIA agent Sands (Depp, The Libertine, Finding Neverland) comes to El Mariachi with a proposal to eliminate Marquez. El Mariachi agrees --- anything to take out Marquez once and for all. But as he pursues his end, he slowly realizes that he is a pawn in a deadly battle beween the drug lord Barillo (Dafoe, The Aviator, The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou) and the government.
