| | Odd Girl OutSynopsis: Vanessa, a seemingly well-adjusted ninth grader, is starting to get bullied by her life-long best friend, Stacy, the class “Queen Bee.� Motivated by jealousy because Vanessa is getting attention from the boy that Stacy likes, Stacy and her loyal band of followers use the Internet, Instant Messaging and even the traditional rumour mill to relentlessly torment Vanessa until her life, as she knows it, is destroyed. Her mother, Barbara, pushes her daughter toward the popular crowd. She discreetly begins a quick study in the use of computers as the weapon of choice for her daughter’s tormentors. Barbara is ultimately successful, even becoming a mentor of sorts to other parents who want to protect their children from the dark side of growing up. Along the way, Barbara and Vanessa not only learn to stand up for themselves, but they also repair the damage to their once healthy mother-daughter relationship.
