After his release from prison, Kelly's disillusionment with the English colonial system leads him to a life of crime. Together with his loyal friend Joe Byrne (Bloom, Kingdom Of Heaven, Haven) and their cohorts, they rob banks and kill policemen. Despite an ever-growing bounty on his head, the hard-bitten Irish ranchers instinctively side with Kelly against the territory's hated law enforcers led by Francis Hare (Academy Award® and Golden Globe® winner Rush,The Life And Death Of Peter Sellers, Intolerable Cruelty). The film also details his secret love affair with the wealthy Julia Cook (Watts,The Ring Two, Ellie Parker). A bloody massacre finally ensues between Kelly's and Hare's men.
