Synopsis:

A follow-up to the 1991 movie, this sequel finds Vada (Chlumsky) happily settled into a new life with her father (Aykroyd) and a very pregnant Shelley (Curtis). Vada decides to write about her deceased mother for a school assignment and travels to California to uncover clues to her identity. There, she forms a reluctant friendship with her tour guide and together they embark on a journey of discovery in which Vada learns more about her own place in her evolving family, first love, making her mark in the world, and pursuing a dream.
