| | Monday Night MayhemSynopsis: When the league pitched its sports series 'Monday Night Football' to the three television networks, only ABC gave it a second look. It was up to Roone Arledge (John Heard, Deceived, Home Alone) to make 'Monday Night Football' an unprecedented sports phenomenon. And he did just that. Putting a ragtag team of sports announcers together, he recruited definitely-not-star-material Howard Cosnell (John Turturro, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Anger Management) and Don Meredith (Brad Beyer, The General's Daughter) for the job. Though kicking off to a bad start, Don and Howard discover a chemistry that builds to a crowd-pleasing crescendo. When Frank Gilford (Kevin Anderson, Hoffa) completes the holy trinity, the show goes through the ratings roof, and they become sports gods that are worshipped more than the game itself. But soon, their egos grow the size of melons, nerves get frayed and they go their separate ways, leaving Monday Night Football ending on a high note.
