The film is a harrowing portrait of drug addiction that takes place in the fast-paced world of Beverly Hills; a world of wealth, sex, glamour and self-destructive behavior. LESS THAN ZERO seems almost like a documentary of the Beverly Hills fast track: private after-hours clubs, expensive cars, creepily smooth drug dealers, glamorous hangers-on and the quiet desperation of a community of bright, attractive youth whose lives revolve around the consumption of drugs.
