Ice Bound

Synopsis:

Based on a true story, and, from director Roger Spottiswoode, (Tomorrow Never Dies), ICE BOUND is the tale of Dr. Jerri Neilsen (Susan Sarandon, Thelma and Louise), the sole physician based at a research station near the South Pole. From February through October, the weather is such that no planes can land anywhere near the research station. In this harsh, isolated environment, Neilsen must overcome obstacles on a daily basis just to survive. This is made more difficult when, in March, Dr. Neilsen discovers that she has breast cancer. Her only hope is to diagnose and treat herself as she fights to survive in severe conditions, until a plane can land in the autumn to take her to proper medical facilities.
