I Capture the Castle

Synopsis:

Meet the earnest, educated but eccentric Mortmain family --- father James (Nighy, The Constant Gardener, The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy), an author with one bestselling novel who's now suffering from writer's block; his wife, the artsy, uninhibited Topaz; the beautiful Rose (Byrne, The Tenants, Wicker Park), and her subdued younger sister Cassandra (Garai, Midsummer Dream, Inside I'm Dancing).

James has decided to make a small and run-down castle their home. Yet the family are constantly short of money, behind their rent and always short on food.

Rose becomes increasingly despondent with their situation and will do anything to get out of her genteel yet poverty stricken life.

Enter two young Americans, Simon (Thomas, Dead Birds, 11:14) and Neil (Blucas, First Daughter, The Alamo), the heirs of the owner of the castle. They've come to collect the rent but Rose manages to charm them both.

Simon is obviously smitten by the scheming Rose. Neil nurses his crush quietly. The quiet but observant Cassandra, from whose point of view the story unfolds, tries to make sense of her sister's romantic but gold-digging machinations. Garai is cited by Roger Ebert as "heart-winning" in the role of Cassandra.
