Synopsis:

He loves the Beatles, works at Starbucks, and has a daughter named Lucy Diamond. Trouble is, he's got the mind of a 7-year old. Who is he? He is Sam.

Mentally disabled, Sam Dawson (Oscar nominee Sean Penn, Dead Man Walking) sees life a little differently from most. Raising Lucy with the help of a motley crew of mentally disabled friends, she is all he has in the world. But when Lucy sacrifices her intelligence in school so daddy can look smarter than her, a social service agency threatens to take her away for her sake. With the help of lawyer Rita Harrison (Michelle Pfeiffer, What Lies Beneath, Dangerous Minds), Sam is going to fight tooth and nail for Lucy's custody, and give us a little lesson in love. He may not be the best daddy in the world, but he's the only one Lucy's got. Simple. Sentimental. Sweet. Just how every father should be.
