Hedwig and the Angry Inch

Synopsis:

Hansel (a boy) undergoes a bootleg sex-change operation when an American G.I. falls in love with him. That's just the beginning of a very sad story. The relationship doesn't last, and Hansel-now called Hedwig-loses "her" man.

Walking in limbo, she turns to prostitution, rock and roll and a guy called Tommy. The flying sparks die fast when Tommy discovers she's not the woman he thought she was. He bails out like a bat out of hell, taking her music with him. He becomes a famous albeit phony rock star touring the top-of-the-line rock circuit, while she's left with the second-rate seafood restaurant circuit.

Hedwig hopes to confront Tommy and force him to acknowledge his connection to her and her music. Let's face it - she may have lost her manhood for love. But she's twice the man he'll ever be.
