Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001)

Synopsis:

Locked up in the cupboard under the stairs, bullied by his fatter-than-fat cousin, and treated as non-existent by his uncle and aunt, Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) was destined for far greater things.

On his eleventh birthday, he receives a letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry - he's been chosen to attend Hogwarts as a wizard-in-training! Seems his parents were also a wizard and a witch and were executed by the evil wizard Lord Voldemort for trying to protect him.

Surviving the attack, depriving Voldemort of his powers and getting a scar in the shape of a lightning bolt on his forehead has made the boy a legend. Soon, wizard training and new friendships begin, with Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) and Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint).

With a curious threesome like that, misadventure soon follows, the wizarding sport of Quidditch, a giant troll and a three-headed monster dog later, Harry will finally get to confront Lord Voldemort himself.
