| Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)Synopsis: Harry Potter returns for his third year at Hogwarts, and it's no less magical or adventure-filled as before. Harry and his best friends Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley are met with the news that vicious killer Sirius Black (Oldman, Batman Begins, Who's Kyle) has escaped from the wizards' prison at Azkaban. The rumor is that he is making his way to Hogwarts, and has nothing else on his mind but to kill Harry--- a mission Sirius' master should have accomplished 12 years ago. Harry summons all the magic he can muster to protect himself and find out what it is about the past that spurs Sirius onto his deadly mission. Rolling Stone magazine praises the third film of the Harry Potter series as a "dazzler, by far the best and most thrilling." Michael Gambon brilliantly fills the shoes left by the late great Richard Harris as Professor Albus Dumbledore. Mexican auteur Alfonso Cuaron of "Y Tu Mama Tambien" fame expertly directs the trio of Radcliffe, Watson, and Grint, now coming into their own as teenagers. Cuaron also gives the film a darker, more mature edge. |
