| | Gridlock'dSynopsis: The realities of drug abuse and the ineptitude of the American social service system are satirized by first time director Vondie Curtis Hall in this black comedy. Three friends, performance artists Spoon (Shakur, Gang Related) his lover Cookie (Newton, Crash, The Chronicles Of Riddick) and Stretch (Roth, Don't Come Knockin', The Last Sign) have been hitting, snorting, and using drugs like there was no tomorrow... Until one day Cookie overdoses. As she lies in a coma at the hospital, it becomes clear to Spoon and Stretch that they have to clean themselves up and get rid of their drug abuse once and for all. They decide to enroll in a government detox program for drug abusers. But their attempt to go clean is severely hampered by police bureaucracy and red tape. Spoon and Stretch spend one long day filling out forms, racing from one social service center to the next, having blood tests taken, and waiting in lines--- all while being chased by the police and drug dealers!
