Synopsis:

This Civil War epic is the prequel to Gettysburg, both directed by Ronald Maxwell. This charts the early years of the American Civil War, from the Battle of Bull Run to the Battle of Fredericksburg, and delves into the motivations behind the leaders of both the Union and Confederate armies.

The movie depicts accurate battle reenactments in actual locations and a solid cast starring Academy Award® winner Robert Duvall (Tender Mercies, Apocalypse Now, Secondhand Lions) as Gen. Robert E. Lee, Stephen Lang (D-Tox, After The Storm) as Gen. Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson, Jeff Daniels (I-Witness, The Hours, 101 Dalmatians) as Lt Col. Joshua Chamberlain and Academy Award® winner Mira Sorvino (Mighty Aphrodite, Romy And Michele's High School Reunion) as Chamberlain's wife.
