| | Final AnalysisSynopsis: In this gripping thriller, a prominent psychiatrist, Isaac Barr (Golden Globe® winner Gere, Shall We Dance?, Chicago), gets involved with the sister of his client, Heather Evans (Academy Award® and Golden Globe® winner Basinger, Cellular, The Door In The Floor). The attraction proves to be a complicated one as she is married to a Greek mobster, who is not about to let her go. A tyrant by any definition, he instills so much fear in her that she believes something terrifying will happen if she chooses to divorce him. The situation is made worse by her medical condition, which is triggered off by alcohol, and causes her to lose physical control. Intense doesn't begin to describe the chemistry between the two leads. Basinger delivers a fine performance of a woman trapped by her circumstances and living on the edge of sanity. |
