Synopsis:

Relive the times of army boot camp, tyrannical officers and racial prejudice, through the eyes of Eugene Morris Jerome (Broderick, Stepford Wives, Inspector Gadget), an aspiring writer called to service in the waning months of World War II.

Based on the 1985 Tony-Award winning comedy screenplay by Neil Simon, the film recounts his life as a 1943 army recruit on Biloxi, Mississippi.

Jerome serves as the resident novelist, making notes of every event that happens in his so-called "memoirs". Facing 10 weeks of boot camp, Eugene and his fellow recruits struggle to survive the rigors of basic training under a near-psychotic drill sergeant (Walken, Catch Me If You Can).

A comical and insightful scrutiny of soldiers entering the war, poignantly told with a striking humorous edge.
