Batman (1989)

Synopsis:

Grossing over $413 million since its release, the first in the "Batman" series has become one of the top grossing movies of all time. And for good reason. Under the vision of director Tim Burton, the comic book hero takes a black and sombre turn, earning him the right to be called the Dark Knight. Burton keeps to the original story of Batman, aka Bruce Wayne's beginnings. After witnessing his parents' premature death as a child, Wayne pledges his life to combating evil, and uses his resources to fashion himself into a crime fighter never before seen in Gotham. However, his dual identity of millionaire philanthropist and man in tights is at risk of being discovered when he gets involved with a beautiful journalist, Vicki Vale (Basinger, I Dreamed of Africa). But he has bigger fish to worry about, in the form of the laugh-a-minute-while-you-kill Joker (Nicholson, As Good As It Gets). Check out the fabulous soundtrack by another joker of an artiste, Prince, which scored hits on the Billboard charts.
