An Angel For May

Synopsis:

Tom (Matthew Beard) isn't going to school today - he's going back in time. Through a secret fireplace in an old farmhouse, and by some miracle, Tom gets time-warped to the time of the Second World war, back in the farmyard of a hospitable family.

His new friends Sam (Tom Wilkinson), his daughter Alison (Julie Cox) and housekeeper welcome him. But it is an orphaned evacuee May that peaks his interest.

Tom is happy here compared to his life in the present, where his separated mother is thinking of marrying another man. After a three-day disappearing act, Tom returns, devastated to learn that his friends from the past have died in a bombing raid soon after he went back to the future. Can he get back to the past to rewrite history, or will he damage everything he's ever known in the present?

Based on the award winning book by Melvyn Burgess, An Angel For May tells the story of a boy who lived to tell the tale spanning two eras.
